During his thirty ( fifteen as CEO) plus years of working life in various corporations Mr. Chanda's core competency has often been summed up as the ability to conceptualize and champion clear Business Strategies while staying focused on achieving operational results.

He has worked with companies like Hindustan Lever Ltd.,he spent 19 years holding senior management positions in Marketing & New Product Development with Levers and Glaxo Smith Kline, based in Bombay, Delhi and London.

Mr. Chanda has served as President & CEO of Gramophone Co. of India Ltd, better known as HMV, EMI's subsidiary in India. HMV's turnaround, from the verge of closure to once again becoming the No.1 Music Company in India, is perhaps the most successful restructuring case in India at that time.

Mr. Chanda has made a significant contribution in steering the adoption of an internationally acceptable Intellectual Property Protection Regime for entertainment software in India, and setting up Anti-Piracy initiatives, as the President of Indian Phonographic Industry, an affiliate of IFPI (International Federation of Phonographic Industries).

Mr. Chanda led three start-ups as CEO :

CIC Video India a subsidiary of Universal and Paramount Studios, Hollywood. CIC pioneered the entry of legitimate home videos in the country.

HOME TV Joint Venture promoted by Pearson Television U.K ., Carlton Communications U.K., TVB, Hong Kong and Hindustan Times, India.

Telserra India Pvt. Ltd.-the Design and Development Center of a US based corporation providing end-to-end solutions entailing development and manufacture of smart card driven hand held electronic data capture terminals and hosting back end data processing services.

Mr. Chanda set up a Turnaround Consultancy in 1998.Mr. Chanda's focus has been on Restructuring Strategies (Non-financial) and he has played an advisory role to a number of potential acquirers of distressed companies in multiple industry segments. His book on Turnaround management "The Second Coming-- Creativity In Corporate Turnarounds" has been widely acknowledged as a valuable guide for practicing managers. An international edition titled "Corporate Turnaround-Strategies For Renewal" is distributed in many countries and has been translated in Mandarin for the Chinese market – a first for a management book written by an Indian and first published in India.
