In another first of its kind, Milagrow Business and Knowledge Solutions and BIMTECH (Birla Institute of Management Technology) today entered into a MoU to give birth to “The Retail Center for Excellence (Retail CoE).” It is a one-of-a-kind alliance between industry and academia with a vision building best in class managerial and organizational capabilities in retail while at the same time become a center of higher learning in the field of Retail for young management professionals.
Birla Institute of Management Technology was established in 1988 under the aegis of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, and supported by Birla group of companies. Dr. (Smt.) Sarala Birla, chairperson of Birla Academy and Syt. B K Birla, chairperson of B K Birla Group of companies are the founders of the business school. Center for Retail, BIMTECH has been set up keeping in mind the conceptual grounding as well as the practical know-how requirements of the retail industry. An Academic Council constituted of industry experts as well as academicians decides upon the course structure so as to allow the proper infusion of theoretical rigor as well as the application part of it. As such the course allows the students to learn not just from the book but also helps them broaden their thinking process by letting them apply what they learn in real life scenario so as to help them contribute productively to the ongoing retail revolution in the country.
The Retail CoE will focus on creating by conducting various research activities in the Retail space which would include
Knowledge Creation: By conducting various research activities in the Retail space.
Knowledge Dissemination: Through the medium of events, white papers etc.
Knowledge Sharing: By providing a platform through which academia and industry could share their learning for betterment of Retails.
BIMTECH students would also be involved in short term projects and internships with Milagrow. BIMTECH faculty would also get the opportunity to work with Milagrow as Subject Matter Experts and help growth seeking organisations in achieving excellence. Milagrow will also nurture dreams of young entrepreneurs who wish to start their own retail ventures. Retail CoE is an endeavor to path breaking knowledge solutions through a unique industry – academic partnership.
